We are getting inspired by rediscovering the work and activities of Thomas Spence who; amongst other things; has a novel approach to the promotion of community ownership of land in the defacing and counter-marking of coins with his political propaganda.
Two of the most interesting defaced coins dating from the 1770's advocate "No Landlords" and "Partnership in Land". More on his influence on cooperation as part of the AV Festival this month at the Lit & Phil in Newcastle.
